IEEE Standard for Rotating Electric Machinery for Rail and Road Vehicles
Abstract
This standard applies to rotating electric machinery which forms part of the propulsion and major auxiliary equipment on internally and externally powered electrically propelled rail and road vehicles and similar large transport and haulage vehicles and their trailers where specified in the contract.Scope
To revise and update the standard and to consider inclusion of inverter driven AC induction motors in this standard. To reconcile with other existing international standards, e.g. IEC 349.
Purpose
To bring this standard up to date by addressing specific issues submitted as comments during the reaffirmaton ballot.
