IEEE Draft Standard for Medical Device Communications -- Medical Device Data Language (MDDL) Virtual Medical Device, Specialized -- Cardiac Output

Abstract

This standard establishes a model for the implementation of the Cardiac Output Virtual Medical Device. It establishes a Design Model and specifies how this Model should be implemented. It also provides guidance concerning bandwidth requirements as well as how to specify conformance with this standard.

Scope

The scope of this MDDL subset is the set of definitions that are normative specializations of the Virtual Medical abstraction. This standard defines the Virtual Medical Device abstraction for Cardiac Output.

Purpose

The purpose of this MDDL subset is to facilitate normative definition among major medical device classes in a way that maximizes the specializations used, and minimizes the interactions with other device classes. This project will define the base object for Cardiac Output. The users of the standard will be medical device manufacturers and hospital software application vendors.
