Risk assessment for BCI testing

A system-level test method has been devised that uses all measured transfer function information, thus giving statistical information on the possibility of over or under testing a component. This statistical information, comprising mean and standard deviation envelope levels and the probability distribution, may be included in the software that drives the bulk current injection test equipment. This would result in a test procedure that not only would be simple to run but would also give an immediate percentage figure of confidence for the device under test to pass the eventual whole vehicle sign-off test. It also avoids over testing which might lead to unnecessary costly redesigns. It is now necessary to develop this technique, that has proved successful during research, into a practical test procedure for future use at the early stages in the development of a car electronic system. The aim is to produce a comprehensive software package that guides users through the test and also through the interpretation of its results.<>
