Band gap analysis of a novel C slot electromagnetic band gap structure

Electromagnetic band gap structures, also called as artificial magnetic conductors or high impedance surfaces play vital role in antenna design due to their peculiar electromagnetic properties. This paper presents a novel C slot EBG structure with a band gap around 5.2GHz. The dispersion diagram of the EBG is extracted using the full wave eigen mode solver and the suspended microstrip line method. A parametric analysis is also carried out on the bandgap.
