CPW-fed small metamaterial inspired antenna for WiMax and WLAN applications

Proposed CPW-fed meta-material inspired antenna is also one of them to invoke the WLAN and Wi-MAX applications in the frequency range of 5.4-5.8GHz. Meta-materials are capable to manipulate EM waves by blocking, absorbing, enhancing, and bending waves and also radiate more energy. The proposed antenna having the rectangular structure (tilted E-S shaped) designed by using FR4 substrate having dielectric constant of 4.4 and tanΓ=0.02 with the thickness 1.6mm. The simulation results shows that proposed antenna have achieved good radiation efficiency and directivity for the specified design parameters. As compared with the existing antenna configurations the proposed CPW-fed meta-material antenna has the advantages of low cost because of the widely used FR4 substrate, simple fabrication, miniaturization & compactness, which can be applied to wireless communication system.
