A four band antenna for wireless applications
Antennas have rapidly developed since the introduction of wireless network. With many new wireless standards introduced in each wireless network generation, multi band antennas have been developed to accommodate many standards into a single device. In this paper, we have designed and studied a four band antenna for Global Positioning System (GPS), Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave access (WiMAX), and Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN). Simulation results of the antenna show that the antenna radiates at four frequency bands 1.4747 GHz–1.5417 GHz for GPS standard, 2.2086GHz – 2.30GHz and 4.5536GHz – 5.7398GHz frequency bands for WLAN standards IEEE 802.11a and IEEE 802.11b &g, 3GHz–3.63GHz for WiMAX standard. The antenna has been fabricated and tested to experimentally confirm the results.
