Sparse Code Multiple Access applied in the Generalized Frequency Division Multiplexing

The main objective of this paper is to show the performance of the non-orthogonal multiple access scheme named sparse code multiple access (SCMA) when it is applied in a non-orthogonal physical layer transmission technique, more specifically, in the generalized frequency division multiplexing (GFDM). The performance analysis is made in terms of the symbol error rate (SER) assuming AWGN channels (Additive White Gaussian Noise) and frequency-selective time-varying channels using computational simulations. The performance of the SCMA-GFDM is compared with the well-known performance of the SCMA applied in the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) technique.
