Intelligent Shrimp Monitoring System Based on YOLOv8 and Jetson Nano

With the rapid development of artificial intelligence, the traditional aquaculture industry is undergoing a transformative revolution, propelled by the emergence of intelligent devices that bring forth entirely new possibilities. This paper addresses the novel and modernized shrimp aquaculture industry, employing the cutting-edge YOLOv8 recognition technology to formulate a comprehensive framework for a multifunctional detection system and an innovative solution for an automated medication system. We have developed an intelligent control platform based on Nvidia Jetson Nano and Arduino systems, along with a Python-based monitoring software that enables comprehensive control over the shrimp aquaculture environment. This cost-effective system not only accurately counts fish numbers but also integrates smart medication functionalities, thereby enhancing the profitability of shrimp farming. Additionally, the system incorporates Internet of Things (IoT) technology, providing remote monitoring and control capabilities that allow aquaculture farmers or operators to manage the farm anytime, anywhere, significantly improving operational efficiency and flexibility.
