Biography
Hooman Abediasl received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering from the Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran, and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA, USA. During his PhD, he was focused on design and implementation of integrated complex electro-optical systems targeting optical sensing and imaging applications. He is currently with Rockley Photonics, where he was first responsible for designing high-speed photonic devices, and now leads the development of optical sensor products. He is responsible for commercialization of optical sensor chipsets targeting a range of markets including autonomous vehicles and healthcare. He is a pioneer in the field of integrated optical phased arrays (OPA) introducing two generations of the world's first monolithic OPAs in CMOS process. He is the recipient of the Nokia Bell Labs First Prize 2016 for his Ph.D research.
