Biography
Hossam S. Abbas (Senior Member, IEEE) received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from Assiut University, Egypt, in 1997 and 2001, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree from the Hamburg University of Technology, Germany, in 2010. He is currently a Senior Scientist with the Institute for Electrical Engineering in Medicine, Universität zu Lübeck, Germany. He is also affiliated as a Professor with the Electrical Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, Assiut University, where he has been an Assistant Professor and an Associate Professor from 2010 to 2015 and 2015 to 2020 respectively. In 2019, he worked at the Medical Laser Centre Lübeck, Germany, as a Senior Scientist. During the academic years of 2017 to 2019, he was an Alexander-von-Humboldt Fellow (Georg Forster Research Fellowship for Experienced Researchers) with the Institute for Electrical Engineering in Medicine, Universität zu Lübeck. He was a Research Fellow with the Hamburg University of Technology, in 2011, and the Eindhoven University of Technology, The Netherlands, in 2013. His research interests include the area of control systems engineering and its applications. His focuses include linear parameter varying systems, optimal and robust control, model predicative control, distributed control, and system identification.
