Biography

Muhammad Fasih Uddin Butt (Member, IEEE) received the B.E. degree from the National University of Science and Technology (NUST), Pakistan, in 1999, the M.Sc. degree in computer engineering from the Center for Advanced Studies in Engineering, University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Taxila, Pakistan, in 2003, with a focus on digital communication/computer networks, and the Ph.D. degree in electronics and electrical engineering from the Communications Research Group, School of Electronics and Computer Science (ECS), University of Southampton, U.K., in June 2010, a with focus on wireless communication systems. In 2021, he was a Postdoctoral Researcher of machine learning for the massive Internet of Things with the Next Research Wireless Research Group, School of ECS, University of Southampton, focusing on smart cities applications. He joined COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI), Pakistan, in 2002, where he is currently a Tenured Professor with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Head of the NGCRG Laboratory. He is an Innovative and Experienced Researcher with a proven track record of prestigious peer-reviewed journals and conferences. He has published over 50 research papers in various reputed journals and conference proceedings. He has successfully supervised five Ph.D. and 22 M.Sc. students in the field of telecommunications engineering. His research interests include radio over fiber technologies, physical-layer security, channel coding, cooperative cognitive radio networks, applications of machine learning and artificial intelligence in various fields, and efficient hardware implementation of high throughput decoders.
