Biography

Hakan Altan received the Ph.D. degree in applied physics from the New Jersey Institute of Technology, Newark, NJ, USA, in 2005.
He was a Research Staff with the Institute for Ultrafast Spectroscopy and Lasers, The City University of New York, New York, NY, USA. He then continued his academic career with the Department of Physics, Middle East Technical University (METU), Ankara, Turkey, where he founded the Terahertz Research Laboratory. Since 2018, he has been with the Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) Center, METU, where he has been involved in developing imaging and spectroscopy applications from the near infrared (NIR) to THz region. He has over 80 publications in the field of photonics. His research interests include photonics applications from the fundamental levels to device and system scales.
