Biography

Karim Baïna received the Engineering degree in computer science and applied mathematics from École Nationale Suprieure d’Information et Mathmatiques Appliques (ENSIMAG), Grenoble, France, in 1999. He has obtained his Ph.D. thesis in computer science from Université Henri Poincaré (UHP) (currently the University of Lorraine), Nancy, France, in 2003, after what he has achieved his postdoctoral project in the University of New Soth Wales (UNSW), Sydney, Australia. He is currently a Full Professor with École Nationale Supérieure d’Informatique et d’Analyse des Systemes (ENSIAS), Mohammed V University in Rabat, Morocco, since 2004. He cumulated international experiences in Europe, Australia, and Africa. He has co-founded two French startups in medical domains: bio-expert.com in medicine practitioners e-learning, in 2000 (before Wikipedia or MOOC’s birth) and angel-assistance.fr on intelligent video-protection of elderly persons in care homes, in 2012 (computer vision, AI, fog-computing, BPM, and fall detection). He has achieved multiple consulting and training projects in Morocco, Tunisia, France, Australia, Sweden, Italy, and Cameroon. He has participated in managed, and coached many important companies IT projects from pre-sales, design to production for banking, telco, and service industry. He has been active operational and management member in many EU, Tempus, Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DaaD), and Swedish Research Council (SRC) projects. He has more than 90 international publications and he has served more than 20 times as invited keynote speaker in international conferences. He has been more than ten times invited professor at international universities. He is IBM MEA University Instructor (Trainer of Trainers) on IBM Big Data Technologies and has prepared to IBM Big Data certification hundreds of faculty members and students in Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, and South Africa, since 2015. He has defended his research Habilitation (Docent) with École Mohammadia d’Ingnieurs (EMI), Mohammed V University in Rabat, Morocco, in 2007. His innovative skills go beyond Science/Technology Engineering and Management, to Humanities singularity. He has published his first Poetry collection algorithms for Soul Rebirth in classical Arabic. His current research interests include development and consulting focus is about digital transformation, big data, artificial intelligence, enterprise architecture, and business process management.
