Biography

Ramy S. A. Afia was born in Monofiya, Egypt, in 1986. He received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in electrical engineering from Helwan University, Cairo, Egypt, in 2008 and 2015, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Budapest University of Technology and Economics, Budapest, Hungary, in 2022.
He has been a Teaching Assistant with the Department of Electrical Power and Machines Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Helwan University, since 2010. In March 2015, he was promoted as an Assistant Lecturer with the Department of Electrical Power and Machines Engineering. He is currently a Research Associate with the University of Manchester, U.K. His research interests include aging mechanisms and condition monitoring of polymer insulating materials, non-destructive condition monitoring techniques of cables, partial discharge measurement with very low frequency (VLF), power and high frequencies, condition monitoring of outdoor insulators, asset condition assessment, renewable energy sources, energy storage and management, and energy green hydrogen systems.
