Biography

Dr Ali Kashif Bashir (Senior Member, IEEE) is a Reader at the Department of Computing and Mathematics, Manchester Metropolitan University, UK. He is also affiliated with the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC), China, National University of Science and Technology, Islamabad (NUST), Pakistan, and the University of Guelph, Canada in honorary roles. He received his PhD from Korea University, South Korea in 2012. His previous assignments include the National Fusion Research Institute, South Korea, Osaka University, Japan and the University of the Faroe Islands, Denmark. He has obtained funding from several international bodies, accumulatively over 3 million USD. He has obtained over 4 million USD funding from Korean, Japanese, European, Asian and Middle Eastern bodies to solve interdisciplinary research problems in the field of wireless sensor networks, internet of things/ cyber-physical systems, cyber security and smart infrastructures. Along with his students and colleague, he has published over 200 high impact articles in the top venues. He has chaired several international conferences and has delivered over 40 invited and keynote talks. He is editor of several journals and Editor in Chief of the IEEE Technology, Policy and Ethics newsletter.
