Biography

Farhad Aghili (SM'07) received the B.Sc. degree in mechanical engineering and M.Sc. degree in biomedical engineering from Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran, in 1988 and 1991, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering from McGill University, Montreal, QC, Canada, in 1998. He is a Federal Research Scientist with the Canadian Space Agency (CSA), Saint-Hubert, QC, Canada. During 1994–1997, he was a Research Engineer with MPB Technologies, Montreal, QC, Canada. In January 1998, he joined the CSA. He has authored or coauthored more than 100 papers in journals and conference proceedings and is the author of six patents and patent applications in the U.S. and Canada. His research interests combine multibody dynamics, robotics, space robotics, vision system, control systems, and mechatronics systems.
Dr. Aghili is a member of the AIAA. He was the recipient of the Best Paper Award at the 2007 ASME/IEEE International Conference on Mechatronic and Embedded Systems, and he was the recipient of the CSA Inventor and Innovator Certificate six times.
