Biography

Vassilios G. Agelidis (SM'00) was born in Serres, Greece. He received the B.Eng. degree in electrical engineering from the Democritus University of Thrace, Thrace, Greece, in 1988, the M.S. degree in applied science from Concordia University, Montreal, QC, Canada, in 1992, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Curtin University, Perth, Australia, in 1997.
He has worked at Curtin University (1993–1999), the University of Glasgow, Glasgow, U.K. (2000–2004), Murdoch University, Perth, Australia (2005–2006), and the University of Sydney, Sydney, Australia (2007–2010). He is currently the Director of the Australian Energy Research Institute, School of Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications, University of New South Wales, Sydney.
Dr. Agelidis was the recipient of the Advanced Research Fellowship from the U.K.'s Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council in 2004. He was the Vice President for Operations with of IEEE Power Electronics Society (PELS) from 2006 to 2007. He was an AdCom member of IEEE PELS from 2007 to 2009 and the Technical Chair of the 39th IEEE Power Electronics Specialists Conference in 2008 held in Rhodes, Greece.
