Biography
Wei Lin (SM’99) received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Dalian University of Science Technology, Dalian, China, in 1983, the M.S. degree in electrical engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Huazhong, China, in 1986, and the D.Sc. degree in systems science and mathematics from Washington University, St. Louis, MO, USA, in 1993.
During 1986 to 1989, he was a Lecturer with the Department of Mathematics, Fudan University, Shanghai, China. Since the spring of 1996, he has been a tenured Professor with the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, OH, USA. He has authored or coauthored approximately 200 papers in various peer-reviewed journals and international conferences. He has been invited to give Keynote Addresses and Plenary Lectures at a number of international conferences on automation, control, optimization and applied mathematics. His research interests include nonlinear control, dynamic systems, estimation and systems identification, robust/adaptive control, biologically inspired systems, power systems, wind turbine and smart grids.
Dr. Lin was a recipient of the National Science Foundation CAREER Award in 1999, the JSPS Fellow in 2003, the Warren E. Rupp endowed Professorship in 1998, and the Robert Herbold Faculty Fellow Award in 2007. He served as an associate editor of the IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control (1999–2002), a guest editor of the Special Issue on “New Directions in Nonlinear Control” in the IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control (2003), an associate editor of Automatica (2002–2005), a subject editor of International Journal of Robust and Nonlinear Control (2005–2010), and an associate editor of Journal of Control Theory and Applications (2005–2008).
