Biography
Rajesh M. Hegde (Senior Member, IEEE) received the Ph.D. degree in computer science and engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Chennai, India, in 2005.
Prior to 2005, he was involved in teaching undergraduate engineering courses at various levels in India. He joined as an Assistant Professor in EE at IIT, Kanpur, India, in 2008, where he became an Associate Professor, in 2012, and a Full Professor in EE, in 2016. He joined as a Professor in EE at IIT, Dharwad, India, in 2023, and on leave from IIT Kanpur. From 2005 to 2008, he worked as a Researcher with California Institute of Telecommunication and Information Technology, and concurrently as a Lecturer with the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of California at San Diego, La Jolla, CA, USA, in 2007. He has established two research laboratories at IIT Kanpur, namely Multi-modal Information Systems Laboratory and Wireless Sensor Networks Laboratory, with the funding obtained from BSNL, DST, MietY, LG Soft, Samsung Research, and Indian Space Research Organization. He actively teaches both undergraduate and postgraduate courses related to electronics, digital signal processing, statistical signal processing, array signal processing, wireless sensor networks, and digital speech processing. He has published prolifically at several international conferences and journals in the area of signal processing, communication, and networks.
Dr. Hegde is a member of the National Working Groups, ITU-T (NWG-16 and NSG-6), on developing multimedia applications. He was awarded the P. K. Kelkar Research Fellowship from 2009 to 2013. He was elected as a Senior Member of IEEE in 2017. He is an Affiliate Member of IEEE-AASP Technical Committee.
