Biography
Nathan J. Gomes (M’92–SM’06) received the B.Sc. degree in electronic engineering from the University of Sussex, Sussex, U.K., in 1984, and the Ph.D. degree in electronic engineering from University College London, London, U.K., in 1988.
From 1988 to 1989, he held a Royal Society European Exchange Fellowship with ENST, Paris, France. Since late 1989, he has been with the University of Kent, Canterbury, U.K., where he is currently a Professor of Optical Fiber Communications. His current research interests include fiber-wireless access systems and networks, fronthaul and radio-over-fiber technology.
Prof. Gomes was the TPC Chair for the IEEE International Conference on Communications, ICC 2015 in London.
