Biography

Adel Belouchrani was born in Algiers, Algeria, on May 5, 1967. He received the State Engineering degree from the Ecole Nationale Polytechnique d’Alger, Algiers, in 1991, the M.Sc. degree in signal processing from the Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble, Grenoble, France, in 1992, and the Ph.D. degree in signal and image processing from TélécomParis, Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications (ENST), Paris, France, in 1995.
From 1995 to 1996, he was a visiting scholar at the Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences Department, University of California, Berkeley. He was with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Villanova University, Villanova, PA, as a Research Associate from 1996 to 1997. He also served as a Consultant to Comcast, Inc., Philadelphia, PA, during the same period. In February 1997, he was a Visiting Scientist at the Laboratory for Artificial Brain System, Riken, Saitama, Japan. From August 1997 to October 1997, he was with Alcatel ETCA, Charleroi, Belgium. From May to June 2001, he was a visiting scholar at the Department of Cognitive Science, University of California, San Diego, CA. From August to September 2001, he was a Visiting Researcher at the Brain Signal Processing Laboratory, Riken. From July to September 2003, he had a sabbatical stay at the Signal and Image Processing Department, ENST. From December 2003 to January 2004, he was an Invited Professor with Telekom Malaysia RnD, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Since 1998, he has been with the Electrical Engineering Department, Ecole Nationale Polytechnique d’Alger, where he is currently a Full Professor. His research interests include statistical signal processing and (blind) array signal processing with applications in biomedicine and communications, time–frequency analysis, time frequency array signal processing, and wireless and spread spectrum communications.
