Biography
Kristopher R. Buchanan (Senior Member, IEEE) received the B.S. degree (magna cum laude) in electrical engineering and computer engineering from the University of Nevada at Las Vegas, Las Vegas, NV, USA, in 2009, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical and computer engineering from Texas A&M University, College Station, TX, USA, in 2011 and 2014, respectively.
He works for the Navy with the Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific (NIWC Pacific). His ongoing research interests include acoustics, high, low and very low frequency propagation, machine learning, and distributed beamforming.
Dr. Buchanan is a recipient of four patents, the best paper and presentation award at the Antenna Applications Symposium (Allerton IL) in 2014, publication of the year at Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific in 2020, and a recipient of the Department of Defense Science, Mathematics and Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship for Service Program (Cohort 2011). He also serves as a member of the United States Army Reserve and currently holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
