Biography

Afaneen A. Abbood received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering from the College of Engineering, Baghdad University, Baghdad, Iraq, in 1990, and the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical power engineering from the University of Technology (UOT), Baghdad, in 1998 and 2005, respectively. From 1991 to 1993, she was a Lecturer with the Institute of Technology, Baghdad. From 1993 to 1998, she served for the training and work shop center of UOT, as a Trainer, and the Head of the Electrical Unit and the Registration Department. Since 1998, she has been a Faculty Member with the Department of Electrical Engineering, UOT. She has also been the Head of the Electrical Power Branch, Department of Electrical Engineering, UOT, since 2011. She has published more than 28 research papers in International journals/conferences, and supervised more than 15 M.Sc. and Ph.D. thesis. Her current research interests include power system operation and control, renewable energy, and smart grid. She has been a member of Iraqi Engineers Union, since 1991, and Iraqi Teaching Union, since 1993. She was a recipient of the 2010 Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s shield, and the 2012, 2014, and 2015 University of Technology Scientific Research Shield.
